The VIPER Short-haul Card is used in combination with the VIPER Chassis at the wiring closet or headend/security central. The Card utilizes a plug-and-play feature that allows the system to be custom configured for each application and provides easy expandability. Each card is hot swappable, allowing the customer’s mission critical video surveillance system to remain in service while routine maintenance is performed.

Like the VIPER Central Card, this card serves to insert power (and control, when applicable) to the camera over the horizontal UTP structured cabling system. Its unique design allows for conversion of video from 100 ohm twisted pair format to 75 ohm coaxial format. This unit was manufactured for this conversion to accommodate fiber optic backbone electronics, which are standardized for 75 ohm BNC connectivity.

The Card is also used at the headend/security central with the VIPER Chassis where backbone and horizontal cabling distances do not exceed 900 feet from camera to monitoring/recording equipment. It comes in a four-camera configuration with RJ45 connections as inputs and BNC connections as outputs to allow for connections to conventional 75 ohm monitoring and recording devices.

  • Transmit high resolution color or monochrome video up to 275 m/ 900 ft
  • High immunity to noise and interference
  • RJ45 inputs and BNC outputs for easy connection
  • Modular design in camera increments of 4 ports
  • Added circuitry for rejection of Ground Loop
