The VIPER Central Card with Ground Loop Control contains dual vertical stacks of four RJ-45 jacks to serve four cameras. The module inserts power (and control, when applicable) to the camera over the horizontal cabling while passing the video signal through for connection to the backbone. The vertical stack to the left is the connection point to the horizontal cabling from each camera. The vertical stack to the right contains video – only – for pass through to the backbone.
The stack on the left has individual blue LEDs per jack to indicate the presence of power. A single green LED is also placed to indicate control signal across the four ports. The module derives both power and control from the bus back plane of the chassis. Each port is individually fused at 1.5 amperes. These are a glass cartridge slow blow type and are cradled in clip style fuse holder on the PCBA board
assembly of the module. Installation or replacement of fuses
may be accomplished while hot swapping the card from the Chassis.
Connection of the module to the structured cabling system
is done with modular RJ-45 patch cords through intermediate patch panels.
