Listen Successfully Promotes Industry Through AV Week Activities

Listen Technologies Corporation increased awareness of the AV industry both within the company and the community through its InfoComm AV Week activities.

(October 22, 2012) Bluffdale, Utah, USA — Listen Technologies Corporation joined a host of companies and organizations from around the world to celebrate, promote and share the impacts of the AV industry across the world. AV Week is an annual event sponsored by InfoComm International.

In September proclamations were secured from Salt Lake County Mayor, Peter Corroon and Bluffdale City Mayor, Dirk Timothy noted the contribution of the audio-visual industry on everyday lives and officially proclaimed October 14 - 20, 2012 as AV Week.

For the third year in a row Listen Technologies picked the Hearing Loss Association of America and its Walk4Hearing as a charity to support as part of AV Week. The Salt Lake City Walk4Hearing raised $19,000 to support the HLAA’s programs to support those with hearing loss.

On Tuesday, October 16 over 35 participants from Salt Lake City experienced a behind-the-scenes AV tour of the LDS Conference Center. The 1.4 million square foot 21,000 people capacity venue located in downtown Salt Lake City is the largest live audio installation in the US. Sean McFarland, Chief Engineer led participants on a tour of the AV system, broadcast studio, and language interpretation facilities.

The LDS Conference Center hosts the semi-annual General Conference which is broadcast to 12 million people worldwide, “Music and The Spoken Word” (a weekly LIVE spoken word and musical broadcast) as well as various cultural and artistic shows.

“I was just amazed by the scope and scale of the AV in the Conference Center,” noted Lynn Budge, tour participant. “If I didn’t go on this tour I wouldn’t have had the opportunity otherwise to understand what it takes to put on what is done at the Conference Center.”

The impact of AV was also experienced at the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce Business Women’s Forum luncheon and panel discussion courtesy of loaner Wireless Conferencing system from Listen Technologies.

The event was hosted in a private dining room at Christopher’s restaurant. The long and narrow dimensions and set up of the room were presenting a challenge to organizers on how to handle the audio for the event. A Wireless Conferencing microphone and speaker unit was placed on each dining table for guests to not only hear the panelists but also to ask questions. Each panelist had a unit placed in front of them for their portion of the presentation. Additionally, the audio from a laptop was connected to the Wireless Conferencing system for a video presentation during the program.

“This was such an ideal solution for our situation, said Mariam Paul, BWF Coordinator. “We were really struggling with how we were going to handle the sound system in this space. The Wireless Conferencing system made sure that even those seated at the very back of the room still heard the panelists clearly. It also made it so easy for our guests to interact with our panelists. All in all it was a success!”

Employees at Listen also celebrated the events of AV Week with a competitive round of AV Wheel of Fortune. Participants were put into teams to test their AV knowledge. “It was a fun, educational way to spend my lunch hour.” stated Wayne Whiteley, Wireless Listening Product Specialist for Listen Technologies. “We are a fairly competitive group and pride ourselves on our job and industry knowledge.”
