MONTREAL — March 29, 2010 — HaiVision Network Video today announced that it is partnering with SKIPA Digital Media to provide live streaming of “A Closet Affair,” a fundraising fashion show being hosted April 14 at 7:00 p.m. (EST) in Montreal by Alzheimer Groupe Inc. The show, which brings 14 well-known Montreal personalities onto the catwalk, and is already sold out, takes place at the eXcentris theater on Boulevard Saint-Laurent, and will be streamed live both to the Web and to LCD screens at HaiVision’s 2010 NAB Show booth SL4424 in Las Vegas.
On-site at the event, a HaiVision MAKITO™ HD H.264 encoder will encode and stream the production’s switched live-video feed. As the hosting and video-streaming partner, SKIPA will distribute the MAKITO digital feed over its global Web video platform leveraging the power of Amazon's EC2 cloud computing network to a customized player at www.agiteam.org, where anyone can watch the live HD-quality industry-standard H.264 video stream. SKIPA will also deliver the live HD stream to HaiVision’s NAB booth for display on all monitors — a total of 13 screens ranging from 24 to 32 inches in size — at once.
“HaiVision is a reputed leader in the streaming media realm and we are thrilled that they are helping us boost Alzheimer’s awareness and raising the funds critical to our education and support programs,” said Linda Israel, executive director at Alzheimer Groupe Inc. “This live streaming event is a first for our organization, and we’re confident that the high-quality HD video delivered by our technology partners, combined with great entertainment on the catwalk, will make a significant impact on our supporters and potential donors.”
The Alzheimer Groupe is dedicated to providing support and educational resources for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, as well as their families, friends, and other loved ones. The organization’s professional help-line staff respond to the need for immediate assistance, and consultation is available on a one-to-one basis to families and significant others. Support groups address individual and family concerns from pre- and early diagnosis stages through the mid-to-late stages to post-bereavement.
In support of the Alzheimer Groupe’s work, “A Closet Affair” will feature live video leading into the fashion show, runway appearances by notable Montreal citizens, and prerecorded interviews with each participant. HaiVision Network Video President and CEO Mirko Wicha will be among the professionally styled “fashionistas” to take the stage.
“Streaming video is an ideal communications tool for sharing the fun of this evening and for spreading information about the Alzheimer Groupe’s valuable work and vision,” said Wicha. “While the evening’s spotlight will focus on some of the group’s greatest fans, I’m pleased to be supporting this important event and the cause it represents.”
