WEST KINGSTON, R.I. – April 14, 2009 – APC, a global leader in integrated critical power and cooling services, today announced it will contribute $5 for every APC Back-UPS® ES 750 andAPC Power-Saving SurgeArrest® sold through participating retailers and directly from apc.com in North America on Earth Day, April 22, 2009*. The contribution will be made to The Nature Conservancy, the leading conservation organization working around the world to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people.

The APC Back-UPS ES 750 and the APC Power-Saving SurgeArrest are highly efficient power protection solutions that provide home computer systems guaranteed protection from damaging surges and spikes. Both products feature SmartShedding™ Technology allowing the products’ master outlet to sense when the computer has either been turned off or has gone into sleep mode, automatically shutting off energy to unused peripherals plugged into the controlled outlets.By cutting power to these “dark loads,” the APC Back-UPS ES 750 and APC Power-Saving SurgeArrest can provide a combined average savings of $40 and $25 per year, respectively.In addition to protection and energy savings, the APC Back-UPS ES 750 also provides battery backup power to keep your system running for up to 70 minutes in the event of a power outage.
