HaiVision Brings IP Video Expertise to ISE 2010 Sessions
Company Executives to Present on Application of TelePresence Principles and IP Video Delivery in the Corporate Environment
MONTREAL and CHICAGO — Jan. 11, 2010 — HaiVision Network Video today announced that Joseph Gaucher, the company’s CTO and executive vice president, and Peter Maag, HaiVision’s senior vice president, will address advanced communications and network video delivery solutions at ISE 2010 in Amsterdam. Gaucher and Maag will present “Applying TelePresence Principles” on Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. (1400h) and “Application of IP Video for Corporate Video Deployment” on Feb. 4 at 10 a.m. (1000h).
“For today’s AV and electronic systems integrator, a key challenge is the delivery of compelling, value-added audiovisual solutions to varied industries,” said Gaucher. “At ISE 2010 we will take on this topic, examining how critical networking, AV, codec, and management technologies can be leveraged together to yield sophisticated telepresence solutions and support efficient and effective distribution of video across corporate networks.”
“Applying TelePresence Principles” will provide attendees with an overview of how the technology underpinning highly integrated TelePresence suite solutions can be brought together to solve advanced communication challenges in environments ranging from situation control rooms and operating rooms, to satellite churches and connected conference theaters. Learning objectives for the session include an understanding of distance network options, codec performance essentials, and the application of TelePresence principles to identify solutions to advanced communication challenges.
“Application of IP Video for Corporate Video Deployment” will address how, taking advantage of the performance and ubiquity of HD H.264 encoding, IP video delivery can offer a versatile, cost-effective alternative to video distribution over conventional cable-based systems. This presentation will explore how a single video-over-IP platform can simplify and support three key areas of enterprise-wide video delivery: distribution of live video to computers and set-top boxes, creation of scheduled playback channels for enterprise TV and signage, and video-on-demand services. Gaucher and Maag will examine how features such as secure access and convenient control contribute to end-to-end reliability and utility of IP video delivery systems.
Gaucher founded Video Furnace and led development of the IP video delivery technology now incorporated into HaiVision’s portfolio of end-to-end network video solutions. He earlier served as CTO for streaming media provider ClearBand, LLC, and as vice president of technology for Viacom New Media, where he led the development of the world’s first commercial application to leverage full-motion video technology in a video game. Prior to joining Viacom, Gaucher founded interactive software developer On-Time Software, Inc.
Maag’s two decades of industry experience include international business development, sales, marketing, and strategic partner development related to the telecommunications, broadcast, and multimedia sectors. His career includes service as vice president at Hyperchip Inc., a supplier of network routing components and systems, and he earlier held the same title at Discreet Logic, where he developed top-level strategic alliances and channel/OEM partnerships with regard to the company’s multimedia/broadcast solutions.
