Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto is using the SHARE-HD network video recorder within the

Sydney and Florence Cooper Family Education Centre as an educational tool for medical

students and hospital staff. HaiVision’s SHARE-HD enables convenient capture, management,

and playback of video from practice sessions, making it easy for supervisors to observe training

remotely and later, to review and analyze recorded video with students.

“The SHARE-HD system is a flexible and expandable system providing immediate significant

operational benefits and allows for a robust foundation for further use of high-quality video in the

future,” said Danny Santa Ana, video media specialist in the Graphics and New Media

department at Mount Sinai. “HaiVision has been a valuable partner in providing advanced

systems that help us to train better doctors.”

HaiVision’s SHARE-HD network video recorder takes full advantage of the benefits of

performance network video encoders, decoders, set-top boxes, and soft player environments to

enable straightforward capture, management, and playout of multiple industry-standard H.264

HD or SD video streams. The SHARE-HD system allows staff at the Cooper Centre to record

and playout video anywhere, without requiring complex installation or configuration, and without

compromising the privacy or security of recorded video.

Controlled via its Web interface or remotely through third-party control systems, SHARE-HD

captures multiple streams synchronously and can replay these multi-stream sessions to

performance decoders, set-top boxes, or soft players throughout the facility. The HaiVision

system enables supervisors to watch student practice sessions across six rooms from a single

location rather than move from room to room, and it also provides convenient review

functionality that simplifies analysis and student instruction. Over a student’s four-year term at

the Hospital, supervisors can return to video and use the SHARE-HD scrub bar to focus on and

compare specific aspects of the student’s performance.
