Remote Controlled System Offers 3 Meter X and Z Axis Camera Positioning.

Amsterdam (September 12, 2008) – Telemetrics is showcasing their innovative BT-X3/Z3-BS Elevating Wall Mount Camera System here at IBC2008. The BT-X3/Z3-BS is a heavy-duty remotely controlled camera positioning system offering a range of unique and innovative features for virtual set and professional video production applications. The wall mount adds a movement similar to that of a crane shot with robotic control.

The BT-X3/Z3-BS is designed to maximize efficiency and functionality and help deliver a more effective and economical approach to production environments,” said Anthony Cuomo, Vice President and General Manager, Telemetrics, Inc. “The initial deployment of the system has been hugely successful by providing Canada’s Global TV with a highly versatile and efficient means of implementing remote regional production centers to produce and control the various newscasts across the country.”

The BT-X3/Z3-BS’ belt-driven track system offers both horizontal and vertical positioning to pan and tilt camera movement which adds a movement similar to that of a crane shot with robotic control. The system can be run with various Telemetrics control panels and computer software which offer position, preset and motion control capability. The X and Z tracks each measure up to three meters (9.84 ft), can bear a trolley load of 70 pounds and can move smoothly at a minimum speed of 0.1 ft/second and a maximum speed of 2.5 ft/second.

The BT-X3/Z3-BS’ track lengths and configuration are custom assembled to the customer’s specification. In order to accommodate a variety of installation choices, the system comes complete with wall, ceiling and floor mounting brackets, floor leveling feet, cable track and pan/tilt head with motor drive panels and motors.

For virtual studio applications, the system relies on the optional X-Z positional encoders which deliver precise (~ 13000 count/inch) data. The positional information is processed into serial format and sent to the virtual studio computer.
